Alicea and I chose to sleep in a bit and wake up around 8:30am. It was also St. Patrick's Day and that is a really big deal in NYC. They have a massive parade through downtown...that just so happened to start on 5th Ave, right in front of our hotel.
Angelia wanted to go farther down the block to watch the parade. Alicea and I stayed at the hotel to rest our feet a bit and get ready. So, Angelia went on her own. We could see some of the things going on in the parade from our hotel window. We were on the 6th floor so we had a pretty good view. Also, they were going to broadcast the whole thing on one of the NY television stations.
As we went to meet Angelia after the parade down in the lobby, we heard what sounded like bagpipe players in the elevator..lol. The door opened and nope...they were not in there. As we made it to the lobby floor, the doors opened and there was a huge crowd of people and Irish music going...the James Larkin Liverpool Society Bag Pipe Players were in our hotel lobby putting on a show! It was actually pretty neat. My camera sucks in low lighting so I wasn't able to get pictures of it.
After all of the celebrating, we headed over to Grand Central Terminal for lunch( it was convenient and had several dining options). We decided to eat at Juniors again but this time I opted for a turkey club sandwich. It was massive but good. I also bought a Red Velvet cupcake I had been eyeing every time we went by.....sad to report it wasn't that great.
After lunch we headed for the subway...Angelia wanted to go to Canal St./Chinatown again! She wanted another purse....and to be honest I kinda wanted some sunglasses. So when we got off the subway at Canal, we were greeted with a hundred little Asian ladies wanting to sell. We picked one and went to her open front shop...only to be guided into the "secret room" via a hidden door..lol...She actually had the best purses for the best price. Angelia ended up getting another one. I ended up getting a Coach Wallet and some Coach Sunglasses. Then, she brought out the Tiffany Jewelry...and Angelia and Alicea bought quite a few things. I didn't find anything I had to have since I don't wear everyday jewelry, only when I go out. After that shop stop, we got back on the subway to head to the Brooklyn Bridge.
It takes about an hour or so to walk over and back on the bridge. We walked half way and then came back. It was kinda weird because they have two levels....below is for cars....top is for pedestrians. So while you are walking, you can see and feel the cars whizzing down below you. We stayed on there for a while taking pictures. I decided to change the setting in my camera to take a few black and whites..haha...like I am a pro or something with my rinky dink Kodak.
Entrance of the Bridge

My b&w of a light post on the bridge I thought was cool with the Manhattan Bridge in the background

After the bridge, we went to City Hall Park( that's where the subway entrance was) and sat on some benches and just enjoyed the scenery. Once again, the black and white feature came out and I snapped a few pictures.
The Main Courthouse in Manhattan

Then off to St. Mark's Place......the East Village. It was soooo neat...totally different from being in the middle of Manhattan. The neighborhoods are quieter and more homey. It is known as kind of being an alternative type place...It has small retailers, street vendors selling unique items, lots of record stores, and Comic Book type stores. It is different and I loved it!! It wasn't as fast paced as the inner city. We stopped at Pinkberry. It is a frozen yogurt place..kinda like Orange Cup here in Dallas. It was yummy. It is also a hot spot for celebrities and Gossip Girl has filmed there before.
My Pinkberry with granola and chocolate shavings...yummy!

It was getting late in the day so we decided to walk around a bit more then head to the hotel. We rested for a bit then decided to go down the street and eat dinner at Qdoba Mexican Grill....which is allot like Chipotle. It was good and there wasn't a big crowd in the place. We ate and then headed back to the hotel to plan the next day and get some rest.
