We started off the day by going to eat breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts. They're on every corner there. After that, we took the subway to my favorite stop..Astor Place. It takes you to Greenwich Village. We walked all over the village, and it was very nice. Very laid back and not allot like the city. We found one of our cupcake destinations, Crumbs. Also very similar to Sprinkles Cupcakes here in Dallas but they were bigger in size. So, as we are scanning the all of the yummy cupcakes, my eyes fixated on the one. It was a Twinkie cupcake...and oh man, it looked sooo good. That's one flavor I have never seen anywhere so I had to get it. It was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! I should have bought another one to take to the hotel later that night....lol

After that sweet spot, we walked around some more and stumbled upon NYU. I don't think we were in the area for the main campus but all of the surrounding buildings and centers were there. That was kinda cool...It's a well known school. It is also close to Washington Square Park. It was a nice, calm park with a gated playground area for the kids. And a giant fountain was under construction...that would have been nice to see. We decided to sit for about 45 minutes to an hour and relax and take in the nice atmosphere. I had my eyes scoping out the place for celebrities. I scanned the whole area and not one around anywhere!! No little Matilda Ledger or James Wilkie playing anywhere....but there were allot of Nannies out and about. I was very disappointed...very, very disappointed.

Washingston Square Park Monument

Our next hot spot was the Peanut Butter and Company restaurant. I had seen it on the Food Network and Travel Channel for a good place to eat. I love peanut butter and I was sooo excited to visit the little slice of heaven. It was a small, homey place...country decor all related to peanut butter...lol....I ordered the Peanut Butter Cup sandwich. I was their brand of homemade peanut butter and Nutella( a chocolate spread). It was brought to me with a bag of potato chips(their own brand) and three carrot sticks. I didn't touch the carrots but the sandwich was just yummy. I decided to buy a plastic jar of the flavor The Bee's Knees...it was a peanut butter with a honey taste. It looked delicious.

After lunch, we headed to Little Red Square. It is a quite sitting area in the middle of the village with a few small trees and some park benches. A lot of people stopped there to eat their lunch on the go.....New Yorkers are always on the go! We decided to pull out the map and look for the next street we needed to find Beard Papa's. That is a place that makes homemade, no preservatives, cream puffs. This particular brand was made popular in Japan...then brought to New York and a few surrounding states. We found it and i was in heaven...two treats in one day! I actually had three treats but i was going to take in everything I could while I was there. I got an Original cream puff and an Eclair cream puff. It was cool and so good it's hard to describe...lol. But if you are ever in the area where they have a Beard Papa's...it's a must stop!
A Church Top in the Village

Then it was off to walk around some more. We walked all over the village and enjoyed every minute of it. We found Houston Street. It's a popular street in NY. It is actually pronounced Hows-ton street....named after William Houston(Continental Congress Delegate for Georgia from 1784-1786). But on the sign, the spelling is different. There is no U in the last part. Anyway, I took a picture of it...it is also mentioned in one of Joey McIntyre's songs about NYC.

We found Gray's Papaya...a Sarah Jessica Parker hot spot. They serve the best hot dogs in New York. I got the Recession Special..two dogs and a drink. I gave one to Alicea and she got her own drink. It was mighty tasty...i would definitely go back. Then, off to the subway and back to the hotel. We watched the a jazz band in the subway which was cool. They were really good too...playing "Rock With You", by Micheal Jackson.

Then we decided to go on a night tour(double decker open top tour bus) of the city, to Brooklyn and back. that was pretty cool. My camera wasn't good at all for night pictures so I didn't take many. Which was kind of nice to just be able to enjoy the sights..some we had seen the days before and some where new to us. A big plus was seeing the Flat Iron Building. It is a famous building known for it's weird shape in the financial district. We also got a close up look of the Empire State Building. After the tour, we ate at McDonald's in Times Square(it was around 9pm) and went to a few souvenir shops.
Flat Iron Building

After all of the excitement, we called it a day. And I must say, it was one of my favorite days during our whole vacation. Absolutely enjoyable...even with all of the walking.
Stay tuned for day six...our last full day in New York.
