NYC Day #6

By this point in the trip, we are starting to get worn down a bit. We slept in a bit longer than normal. But we still managed to catch a late breakfast at Grand Central again..lol

From there, we took the subway to 77th street and walked about 6 or so blocks to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. By the time we emerged from the subway tunnel, it was raining. Not a hard rain but enough to have an umbrella. A random guy was selling small umbrellas for $4 and I bought all three of us one.

Metropolitan Museum Of Art

I loved the architecture of the museum.

We started off in the Egyptian Wing of the museum. We saw some things but nothing that really warranted us to spend allot of time there. From there we moved to the Asian Wing.It seemed to have really caught Alicea's attention, which surprised me. I was actually happy that she seemed so into all of the things that were there. I thought she would dread the few hours we were going to spend in the museum that morning.

The last section we went through was the Modern Art Wing. I was really into it...It had paintings from Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Andy Warhol. And we were allowed to take picture which was nice.

Pablo Picasso- The Dreamer
Andy Warhol- Nine Jackies

Vincent van Gogh- Wheat Field with Cypresses
Claude Monet- Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies
After a few hours, we decided to take a cab to go eat lunch. It was yucky wet weather and no fun in the hustle and bustle of the city. We were dropped off close to the Radio City Music Hall because that was the landmark that was closest to Magnolia Bakery. And you have to have and address to give them or you are outta luck..haha. We didn't have one so we went with a landmark and got where we needed to go. Magnolia Bakery is ANOTHER Sarah Jessica Parker hot spot. I decided to get a Red Velvet and a Yellow Pastel cupcake. After we got our sugar rush to go, we headed off to McDonald's around the corner for lunch. It was nasty out and we didn't feel like looking for a place to eat so we settled. It was a three story McDonald's.....most of their restaurants and store are multiple levels because they have to build up...there is no room to build otherwise. We had lunch and then headed back to the hotel by cab.

These were yummy!!

We decided to eat our cupcakes when we got back and then watch a bit of television. After a while we got really sleepy and took a nap. It was still yucky rainy and cold outside and there wasn't much to do at this point that was close to the hotel.

We woke up after a few hours, and got ready to head out to our Broadway show, The Little Mermaid. I don't know how, but I managed to find an unlevel spot on the concrete and FALL while walking down Broadway before the show...lol. It was funny but very embarrassing!! It was a fantastic show...very vibrant, colorful, and family friendly. I was in awe of the costumes and they props. If I lived in NYC I would go to at least one Broadway show a week...lol Alicea really enjoyed it, which was good since we picked that show mainly because of her.

After the show, we headed down the street to Times Square for the final time to eat dinner. We settled on Planet Hollywood. It, once again, was like 4 levels....but it had things to look at and enjoy on the wall while walking up. The food was average but it was fun looking at everything and going to a place we normally do not go. It was getting late and time to head back to the hotel for the night.
We finished our last day in NYC. I was sad for it to all end but was a blast and I can't wait to go back. I did everything I had set out to do except for finding the Alice in Wonderland Sculpture in Central Park.....we were so close yet so far away. I will have some of the best memories from my first trip to New York to be followed by more in the future. It is a city that everyone should experience once in their life time......but I can say, after that, you will want to go back!
