Small Town, Texas

Friday after work, I decided to take a little jaunt to Paris.....Texas! I have never been there before and I was bored so I decided to go check it out. It was about and hour and forty minutes from where I live. But It was 12pm so I had plenty of time to explore.......

This fountain is called the Culbertson Fountain......It's in the middle of the downtown Paris Square. The downtown is old and still operating. But I must say, I like our square here in McKinney better....more quaint.

Another view of the fountain.....I like this because you can see the water dripping...

This was a random thing I saw on the side of HWY 82, I think. It just struck me as weird that it was sitting there all alone....in a field, but close to the road. I am sure there is a story behind it but I have no clue what it is.

Well.....what can I tell you about Paris?? It is a dirty little town...In the Texas Travel Guide they make it to be a nice little touristy place.....not so much. It was rundown looking and kinda gross. And for it having a somewhat known, at least in this area, Junior College, there was nothing there. But it was a nice peaceful drive...not alot of traffic and alot of pastures..lol

And really the whole reason I went there....silly but I wanted to see it!! The Eiffel Tower...Texas Style!! It is 65ft tall and in the middle of nowhere....I got lost a few times trying to find it. Nice touch with the cowboy hat, huh??
Where will my next Small Town, Texas stop be?? Or will it be on one of my many trips to Oklahoma?? I am still on the look out for my perfect travel photo to enter the National Geographic Travel contest......any ideas? I have until August 1st to enter.

oh girl, you were bored with me gone, lol.
There's so many places I want to go...I loved driving (riding) through East Texas. I want to go on a Tx trip to strictly take pics of Tx stuff to make a giant collage to frame :)
And I still need to go to Stillwater...maybe we'll make the drive next time you visit.
You know OK has some pastures, lol.
